A little about us….
My name is Susan Allen and I’ve lived in Nevada for 24 years. I came from a family of orchardists and farmers in California and grew up in an apple orchard in the mountains. My husband, Joe Cowee, is a 6th generation Nevada and grew up in Yerington farming, raising goats and tending bees. We are both professionals in the community. Joe is a CPA and I am a clinical pharmacist. I’m working toward certificates in apitherapy and herbalism. We share a love of the Earth through gardening and raising animals, community and creating connection, cooking and creating unique and beautiful products.
Our intention was to create a business founded on positive health outcomes both for ourselves and for those that we meet and share our products and experiences with. We founded 7 Hawk Ranch based on these principles. We want to establish trust through honesty, transparency and the wholesome nurturing properties of all we sell and share with the community. We want to reconnect our customers with their food and how its produced through education and the inherent greater value of our products. Food unites families, friends and communities. We are NDA certified for produce, eggs, and honey. Additionally, we are certified for agritourism; but instead of corn mazes and gimmicks we want our customers to seek us out for education and to be in touch with everything we are doing on our ranch.
We have a modest organic garden of fruits, vegetables, herbs and edible flowers that is slowly growing with each year. We also raise Nigerian Dwarf goats, honey bees and a variety of birds. We work toward biodiversity here and raise predominantly heritage breeds and prefer to grow endangered and heirloom plants whenever possible. We sell produce, edible flowers, fruits, eggs, honey, jams/jellies, and apiary products in addition to making goat milk soap/lotion, candles as well as other fun stuff! We love to give tours and share our knowledge with anyone that seeks it, or maybe just needs a goat hug to feel better.
